THE RELIEF TEACHER PACK
10 games that work with any class,
no equipment, no login, no prep
Leave this with your cover notes. Every game below runs with nothing but the students in the room. Years 3 to 6.
For the relief teacher: these are settle-and-reset games, not time fillers. Use a Calm game when the room is wound up, a Movement game when energy is flat, and a Connection game when you want them talking to each other instead of at you.
01
Bam Bam BamAll-rounder · 1-10 min
Create a circle and have everyone put their fists in the centre. This game works best in groups of five players. Then, on the count of three, everyone shouts “Bam Bam Bam!”
02
The Happiness AlphabetThinking · 1-20 min
You must be creative and think of all the wonderful people, places and experiences you have had to find a letter for each alphabet. Good luck.
03
Power Yawn BreathingCalm · Under 5 min
Participants start by rotating their shoulders and shaking out their arms. This will help loosen tight and tense shoulder muscles. Now they need to open their mouth, as if they were yawning, and breathe in, then exhale.
04
Kindness KaleidoscopeConnection · 5-15 min
Cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of kindness within families, schools and workplaces. Through this game, participants will have the chance to express, practice, and reflect on acts of kindness in a fun and engaging manner.
05
Empathy I Spy ActivityConnection · 5-15 min

Moving & ShakingThinking · 1-10 min
Moving and shaking is one of the best memory/ icebreaker games we have ever created. It works well for new groups and also groups of participants that are well established and know each other.
07
Human KnotMovement · 5-20 min
All players stand in a circle with their shoulders touching. Stretch both hounds out into the centre of the circle. Each person is to grasp somebody else’s hand, a different person for each hand.

Animals/Cities/Geography – Bus or Car GameAll-rounder · 10-20 min
This is a great game where students take it in turns of naming animals. Each student has to name another animal, not repeat what the students before them have said.
09
Candle & Flower BreathingCalm · Under 5 min
Tune in to your breathing, and feel the natural flow of breathing in and out. Participants start by making a fist with their left hand, picturing a cut flower in their fist.
10
GotchaWhole class · 1-10 min
The class is arranged in a circle. Each person stands with their right hand out facing up and their left index finger out facing down on the person’s right open hand next to them.
