Privacy Policy
Last updated · January 202601Information We Collect
When you create a ClassBreak account, we collect your name, email address, school name, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name and email from Google.
When you use the app, we collect information about the sessions you run, such as which games were played, how many students participated, and session duration. When you run a live Class Play game, students join by entering a display name of their choosing on their own device (no account, no login). That display name, and any optional wellbeing response, exists only for the duration of the live session and is automatically deleted within 24 hours. We never ask students for their real name, age, email, or any lasting identifier.
We collect technical data such as browser type, device type, IP address, and usage logs to help us improve the service and diagnose issues.
02How We Use Your Information
To provide and improve the ClassBreak service, including personalising your dashboard and recommendations.
To process your subscription and communicate important account updates, billing notices, and service announcements.
To analyse aggregated, anonymised usage data to understand which games are most popular and how to improve the platform.
We will never sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
03Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Firestore) in Australia and the United States, with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.
Passwords are never stored in plain text. All authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication, which uses industry-standard hashing.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days.
04Children's Privacy
ClassBreak is designed for use by teachers, not directly by students. We do not knowingly collect real names, ages, contact details, or persistent identifiers from children.
In the Class Play feature, students do not create accounts or log in. To join a live game they enter a self-chosen display name on their device (which need not be their real name); they may also tap an optional anonymous wellbeing response. This is the only student-entered data, it is not linked to any identity, and it is automatically deleted within 24 hours of the session.
We ask teachers not to instruct students to enter their full real names. If you believe a child has entered identifying information, contact privacy@classbreak.app and we will delete it.
06Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the GDPR (where applicable), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time.
You can update your name, email, and school details from your Settings page. To request full data deletion, email privacy@classbreak.app.
You may also request a copy of all data we hold about you by emailing privacy@classbreak.app. We will respond within 30 days.
