How to play
A set of simple tricks for every times table from ones to twelves. Doubling, finger methods and patterns help students work out answers quickly and start memorising them.
- Twos: double the number. Fours: double it, then double again. Eights: double three times.
- Threes: add the number three times. Sixes: double the three times answer.
- Fives: multiply by 10 and halve, so 9 x 10 = 90 and 90 / 2 = 45.
- Sevens: remember 5 6 7 8, so 56 = 7 x 8, or add the fours and threes answers.
- Nines: spread your fingers and bend down the finger you are multiplying by; read tens and ones either side.
- Tens: add a zero. Elevens: each number to 10 is duplicated, like 33 and 44.
- Twelves: multiply by 10 and by 2, then add, so 12 x 3 = 30 + 6 = 36.
