How to play
A hands-on lesson in the power of words. Students squeeze out toothpaste or scrunch paper, then try to undo it and can't, showing that once something is said or done, it's there to stay.
- Toothpaste option: give each student or small group a small tube of toothpaste, a paper plate and a plastic spoon.
- Give them 20 seconds to squeeze the whole tube onto the plate, then a couple of minutes to spoon it back in.
- Paper option: give each student blank A4 paper. On 'GO', they have 20 seconds to make the tightest ball possible.
- On 'STOP', give them 20 seconds to flatten it back out, then ask what they see.
- Explain that words and actions are the same: once out, you can't take them back, so be kind to everyone.
- Stick the creased paper somewhere visible as a reminder.
